Terms and Conditions

Last updated:

Who we are

Digital Atelier Development SRL develops Journal, a downloadable OpenCart theme.

These terms cover our portal and direct licenses, updates and support. Our Refund Policy (opens in a new tab) forms part of them. Our Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab) explains personal data processing.

Purchases and delivery

Direct purchases. Paddle is our authorised reseller and Merchant of Record. You buy from the Paddle entity shown at checkout. Paddle handles payment, VAT/sales tax, invoicing and refunds under its Buyer Terms (opens in a new tab) and Refund Policy (opens in a new tab). We supply Journal, licensing, updates and support.

Journal supports OpenCart 2.3.x, 3.x and 4.x. See our documentation (opens in a new tab) for features, compatibility and system requirements, and our pricing page (opens in a new tab) for order options. Checkout shows the order contents, support period and total including applicable taxes before payment. After payment confirmation, we add your licenses to your account, email them to you and enable your download.

Our terms are in English and can be saved or printed. Review and correct your order before paying; Paddle confirms the order by email.

ThemeForest purchases. The applicable Envato terms (opens in a new tab), item license, support and refund policies govern these purchases. Importing an Envato license into our portal does not change those rights or add item restrictions.

License and client sites

Each license is identified by its purchase code, shown in your account. Each direct license grants ongoing, non-exclusive, worldwide use and customisation of Journal on one domain, for one OpenCart store for yourself or one client. A separate project needs a separate license.

The license also covers that domain’s subdomains (such as www or staging), the same name on other endings (such as shop.de for shop.com), and test copies on local addresses, IP addresses or hosting preview addresses. Development copies and backups may serve that same store, but not separate stores or unrelated projects.

You may charge for building a client’s store. Its license passes with client handover or sale of that same store. Give the new holder these terms, stop using your copies except as their authorised maintainer, and contact us (opens in a new tab) to update ownership. Having a license’s purchase code does not by itself make you its owner.

Do not redistribute Journal or its source as a standalone product, theme, template or reusable builder, resell a license alone, or use proprietary bundled assets separately. Do not bypass license verification. Journal remains our intellectual property. Third-party and open-source licenses and mandatory software rights remain unaffected.

For Envato purchases, the Envato license issued with your purchase (opens in a new tab) and licensing FAQ (opens in a new tab) control use and transfers.

Accounts and verification

Keep account details accurate and access secure. Manage client licenses only with the holder’s authority. Do not misuse the portal or license API.

Journal verifies its license online with our license server, as described in the Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab). Write to license@journal-theme.com if you have issues with your license.

Account closure does not cancel or reassign a valid license. We arrange continuing entitlement verification where needed.

Updates and support

All released Journal updates remain free for license holders after support expires. This does not promise new features or perpetual development. Required conformity and security updates remain unaffected.

Orders include six months of support, or twelve if selected. Direct support covers your direct licenses for the same platform together. A new license order starts its selected period from purchase, unless existing support runs longer; periods do not stack. Your account shows the end date. Extend or renew direct support in your account; Envato support renews through Envato.

Support covers Journal bugs, existing features and bundled assets. It excludes customisation, installation services, separately added extensions, hosting and unrelated OpenCart issues. Expiry does not end the license, released updates or mandatory remedies.

Open tickets at support.journal-theme.com (opens in a new tab). Use temporary troubleshooting credentials and revoke them afterwards.

Suspension and responsibility

We may proportionately restrict affected portal access for unauthorised access, fraud or serious misuse, or end a direct license for material breach. We explain the reason and allow correction unless immediate action is necessary for serious security risks or deliberate infringement. Envato item rights follow Envato’s terms.

Consumers keep all mandatory rights. Compatibility with separately added extensions or custom changes is not guaranteed; we remain responsible for our failures and promised functionality. Back up before installation or updates.

For direct business purchases, where legally permitted, we exclude indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits, and limit total liability to the amount paid for the affected license and associated support. The limits do not apply to fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury, or liability that cannot be limited. They do not apply to consumers or amend Envato item terms.

Law and complaints

Romanian law applies without removing consumers’ mandatory protections or available courts. Paddle’s and Envato’s agreements have their own governing-law terms.

Contact us (opens in a new tab) about complaints. Consumers may contact ANPC (opens in a new tab) or SAL (opens in a new tab). We state whether we participate where required; participation is not promised for every dispute.

Purchase-time terms govern existing rights. New terms apply to future orders; lawful changes to ongoing services are notified where required.
